I was skeptical to rent a van from here due to the other reviews.
However, I booked in a van the night before using the website and picked it up the next morning with no hassle.
The Van was clean and drove fine. The drop off process was easy and quick.
The only feedback I have is that the online prices may be different to actual hire price. That is, the weekend rates are slightly higher than the weekday rates.
All in all I was happy with the service and will definitely use their service again
I recently rented a 12-seat minibus from Lion Car Rentals for the period of December 27th to December 31st, 2023. I would like to address the unsatisfactory condition of the vehicle during this rental period, prompting me to share my concerns and seek resolution.
Throughout the rental, the minibus exhibited numerous issues that significantly impacted both the driving experience and passenger comfort. I feel it is essential to bring attention to the following concerns:
*Vehicle Damages: The minibus showed damages all over, which were unacceptable. This not only affected the appearance but also raised concerns about the safety and reliability of the vehicle.
*Shock Absorbers: The shock absorbers were in poor condition, contributing to an unpleasant driving experience. The compromised shock absorbers compromised the safety and comfort of both the driver and passengers.
*Damaged Top Back Light: The top back light of the vehicle was damaged and repeatedly came out of the socket. This poses a safety hazard and reflects a lack of maintenance and inspection on the part of the rental service.
*Rattling Side Door: Throughout the entire drive, the side door rattled incessantly, causing discomfort to all passengers. This issue not only affected the overall experience but also raised concerns about the safety and integrity of the vehicle.
Despite giving ample time for your company to address these issues and come back to me with a satisfactory resolution, no action has been taken. In light of this, I am left with no choice but to share my dissatisfaction through this review. Additionally, I will be filing a formal complaint with Consumer Affairs Victoria to ensure that these concerns are appropriately addressed.
I advise anyone considering Lion Car Rentals to exercise caution and thoroughly inspect vehicles before driving off.
UPDATE: The expectation is not that the car should be brand new but at least in a satisfactory condition where the driver and passenger experience is comfortable. Basic customer satisfaction was not fulfilled here.
P.S Prior to hiring the vehicle I did ask if the van was in good condition and I was told that it was but obviously that was not true.
It took us over an hour to leave because every car they provided had issues - rear brake light not working, engine light on, drivers seat broken. I foolishly ignored the warning signs and ended up with a Mazda 3 that felt like it would fall apart once it hit 80km. I returned it promptly due to safety concerns, when I raised the issues with the manager, he dismissively said, "What do you want? "If we give you money off, we have to do it for everyone." "Why did you take it, if you weren't happy" "Sorry brother, I can't do anything."
Please don't do yourself a disservice, spend a little more and go to a more reputable company.
They're driven by greed! There's no other reasonable explanation as to why their vehicles are in such a poor state. They obviously view the safety of their customers and the general public as a non issue.
Excellent experience with Lion Car Rentals from initial booking through to delivery and return. I was particularly impressed by their efficiency and friendly staff. I was in Melbourne for vacation and I had a Toyota Axio hybrid for three weeks. This car was in good condition and I even drove it to sydney and canberra without any troublesome issues. The car was simply great and they had fair prices with great customer service. I would recommend anyone to go to Lion Car Rentals without any hesitation.
I had a great experience with the lions rental crew amazing staff all around very polite ,Friendly and well spoken, originally was supposed to rent out cheaper car as it was all I could afford but was upgraded to a better car with no extra charge highly recommended them if your looking for a vehicle to rent out. if it could be a zero it would, i dont want to give more time then i need to on this company, the car was in terrible condition, and instead of renting a car, i could of put together a more reliable car from pick a part, the staff were rude. do yourself a favour, go somewhere else even if you have to spend a little bit more, just waiting for the owner to make excuses and comment on my thread instead of actually make changes and provide a safe roadworthy car
Hired a car from Lion Rentals and had to return it the next day, it wasn’t cleaned properly, which I could get passed but it had issues, the warning light on the dash was on, it was also saying doors were open when they were not, a dinging sound kept randomly going off and worst of all when driving anything over 65-70km the whole car was shaking like crazy, it felt like it was going to fall apart or just give out at any moment…I did not feel safe driving with my 3 kids. We were charged $122 for a day of use, disappointed that they would even think it’s okay to give this car out. I do not recommend hiring a car from here. I give 0 stars but had to put 1 to post this review.
